Look for sculptures on the island

The New York based artist Michael Beitz has collaborated with students from St. Petersburg’s PRO ARTE foundation to create a special project for New Holland.
He ran a workshop with 15 artists from the foundation, casting objects from sweetcorn to cassette taps to lone fingers from moulds of dental alginate. These casts were then hidden around the island in the vogue of an artistic scavenger hunt, where the public use a map to seek out and discover these aesthetic treasures. The idea is for visitors to re-evaluate their body’s interaction with the urban architecture around them.
This project is largely derived from works Beitz has created in New York ‘Brick/Body’ where he cast different parts of his body and placed them within the framework of buildings around the city.
