Kids' weekend master-classes, June

This summer, all kids who stay in the City will not be bored. New Holland island and the creative manufacturers "P.T.H." have prepared for them and their parents master-classes on weekdays and weekends.

Weekends: Free master-classes, for kids from 4-14 years old. Booking for all master-classes is required - either book by phoning +7 (812) 971 05 10 or buy tickets from the Information container. Master-classes are held in the Family center, the pink container.

16/07 Sat. 'Christopher Columbus - the great pioneer of America.'

12:00 - 13:30 Practical art class: class participants will learn about the design of the national houses of North America’s indigenous people and will build one themselves.

14:00-15:30 Research and experimental class: kids will be provided with various equipment and learn how to make handmade compasses which they can then use to navigate their own around-the-world cruise!

17/06 Sun. 'Vasco da Gama and the discovery of India.'

12:00 - 13:30 An Artist's workshop and practical class: participants will learn about Indian mythology and make toys of the many-armed God Shiva.

14:00 - 15:30 Research and experimental class: children will learn how to extract natural dyes from plants and then paint Tye-Dye T-shirts.

23/06 Sat. 'James Cook and the Voyage to the coast of New Zealand.'

12:00 - 13:30 Practical art class: New Zealand’s national Indian’s wicker doll.

14:00-15:30 Scientific and Practical class: create a model of a sailing boat and send it off to sea!

24/06 Sun. 'Willem Barents: Arctic.'

12:00 - 13:30 Practical art class: kids will learn how to create Polar light, and construct three-dimensional Arctic Valley dioramas.

14:00 - 15:30 Research and experimental class: kids will learn about the difficulties of Arctic life, and construct a polar model of an Eskimo’s igloo.

30/06 Sat. 'Marco Polo - the Great pioneer Of Africa.'

12:00 - 13:30 Practical Art Class: African tribal totems, kids will learn about and create their own totem poles.

14:00 - 15:30 Research and experimental class: analyze the usability of sand and create a sand-glass.
