Kids' weekend master-classes, July

July will be a month based around some world's greatest artists.

Children will learn about the portrait techniques of Mexican painter Frida Khalo, see the beauty of ordinary projects through the eyes of Andy Warhol, plunge into the suprematist dreams of Kazimir Malevich and into Salvador Dali's world of fantasy.

Weekends: Free Entrance, for kids between 4-14 years old.

'Frida Kahlo - Mexico'

12:00 - 13:30 Practical Art Class: Portraits of Frida Kahlo. The children will make their own self-portraits in the style of Kahlo.

14:00 - 15:30 Technology Research and experimental class: The children will make Mayan Sundials.

'Andy Warhol - America'

12:00 - 13:30 Practical Art Class: Reprinting and copying. Kids will learn about how Pop artists worked, finding beauty in the everyday objects around them and then creating paintings in the style and technique of the legendary artist Warhol.

14:00 - 15:30 Scientific and Experimental class: Recycling cans / Experiments with the Coca-Cola brand. Kids will learn about the properties of the infamous drink and find an artistic use for its packaging.

'Kazimir Malevich - Russia'

12:00 - 13:30 Practical Art Class: Scientific and thermo-application. Kids will create Suprematist works in the style of Malevich, designing and then printing their colourful iron transfers onto pillow cases or canvas bags.

14:00 - 15:30 Research and Experimental class: 3D cubic Cards. Postcards don't have to be flat and two dimensional in volume. Learn more about optical illusions and create 3D cards in bulk.

'Henri Matisse - France'

12:00 - 13:30 Practical Art Class: Dress Matisse's Dancers. One of Matisse's most famous paintings 'The Dance' will no longer have naked figures, the children will dress them up in modern clothes.

14:00 - 15:30 Research and Experimental class: Colour and Optical Illusion. Continuing the theme of optical illusions, learn more about colour distortion and features of the eye and its colour perception.

'Salvador Dali - Spain'

12:00 - 13:30 Practical class: Phantasmagoric Zoo. The kids will be inspired by Dali and his imaginative creation of Surrealist animals and create their own phantasmagoric Zoo from ordinary household item.

14:00 - 15:30 Research and Experimental class: Dali’s surreal clock. Learn about the mechanics of watches and then create your own surreal mechanical watches.

'Jackson Pollock - America'

12:00 - 13:30 Practical Art Class: The giant canvases of Pollock. The Kids will get acquainted with the techniques of the artist and create their own giant canvas. WARNING you may need to bring a change of clothes for this class, or ones that you don't mind staining.

14:00 - 15:30 Research and Experimental class: Experiments with paint + other substances. Kids will experiment with mixing paints with other substances and learn how to use these combinations in an artistic way.

'Rene Magritte - Belgium'

12:00 - 13:30 Practical Art class: Portrait applique. Kids will learn how to work in the style of the famous Belgium artist and his applique technique.

14:00 - 15:30 Research and Experimental Class: 'Fruit Battery.'

Fruit is not just tasty and good for your health, but it may also be useful in everyday life, the kids will make batteries powered by fruit.

'Jan Shvankmaer - Czech Republic'

12:00 - 13:30 Practical Art class: Object Animation, kids will all be able to create a short animated sketch.

14:00 - 15:30 Research and Experimental class: Experiments with light-"the little green devil." Continuing to experiment with colour and light the kids with try and create an optical object.

'Hayao Miadzaki - Japan'

12:00 - 13:30 Practical Art Class: The moving doll. The kids will see examples of Miadzaki's Japanese animation, the artist pays attention to the peculiarities of his characters. Then everyone can make a flat hinged doll-style cartoon character of the great director.

14:00 - 15:30 Research and Experimental class, kids will make their own Robotic assistant.
