Open library

The Open Library
The Open Library came about in March 2012 as a way to change the current concept of libraries, taking them out of formal state structures and into the organic parts of today’s urban environment. New Holland will serve as the summer space for the project. Shelves full of books from the classics to contemporary non-fiction and periodicals, and comfortable reading spots, will colonize a space along the embankment.

Additionally, the Open Library will host readings and conversations as part of the “Man, As He Is” series, featuring well-known public figures. Books for the project have been provided by the Vladimir Mayakovsky Central City Public Library.

The project's organizers include Denis Gordeyev (Creative Angel company), Viktor Orlov (broadcaster at VOT TV Channel, professor at the St. Petersburg State University for Culture and Arts), Nikolay Solodnikov (broadcaster at 100TV channel, professor at the St. Petersburg State University for Culture and Arts), and Ekaterina Ivanovskaya (dance studio Canon Dance, student of the St. Petersburg State University for Culture and Arts).
