18/08 - 19/08 KITE WEEKEND

On 18th & 19th August, KITE WEEKEND - a festival of kites of all shapes and sizes - will take place on the island, organized in conjunction with kite club Prokite.

There will be a big installation "The Colour of Wind" on the island comprising 40 flags powered by the strength of large wind-turbines. The length of each turbine is equivalent to the size of a three-storey house, so even the tallest person can go inside! Not only will visitors be able to admire the incredible constructions, they'll also be able to fly french designer Alain Micquiaux's butterfly kites. Spinning over the island, 15-metre long ghost kites will be up in the air, and trains of kites created by Taiwanese and German designers.

Saturday, 17th August:

12:00 - 18:00 - Kite Show

12:00 - 18:00 - Visitors are given the opportunity to launch their own kites on a special platform (kites are given out free-of-charge for those wishing to take part)

14:00 - 15:00 - Kite-making Masterclass

Sunday, 18th August:

12:00 - 18:00 - Kite Show

Taking part in any of the KITE WEEKEND events is free-of-charge.
