15/09 Harvest festival


On 15th September, from 12:00 to 18:00 a "Harvest Festival" will be held on the island in honour of the closing season for the OGO! Community of Urban Gardeners. 

Program: 
12:00 - 18:00 The farmers’ sale 
Gardeners can bring their home-grown products for sale or exchange. In the Market Square special counters will be prepared so this can be carried out. 

12:30 - 13:30 Children's workshop "Marzipan fruit and vegetables” Led by Laurent Bourcier (pastry chef at the Wolkonsky bakery-cafe) Laurent Bourcier is a member of the Culinary Academy of France, he is a holder of the "International white cap" title and is a pastry chef at the Wolkonsky bakery-café. This is a master-class to work with one of the most durable sweets - marzipan. The kitchen-wizard will talk about how marzipan can be prepared, and give demonstrations on how to make funny shapes and figures out of the marzipan mixture. 

16:00 - 17:00 "Mediterranean cuisine from Russian farm products" workshop by Maurizio Piccolo -
 Maurizio Piccolo is a chef at SERAFINO, and a teacher at the business management school in the service industry SWISSAM. This Italian chef with over 25 years of experience will provide an interpretation of Mediterranean cuisine using seasonal vegetables from the Lavkalavka farmers' cooperatives. Maurizio will cook cream of cauliflower soup with green onions and cheese with herbs as well as turkey with zucchini, carrots and leek, served with a green salad. 

12:00 - 18:00 Vegetable Market and Lavkalavka’s menu 
Farmers' cooperative LavkaLavka will have a sale of vegetables from farmers from the Leningrad region who farm without the use of chemical fertilizers and pest control: squash, zucchini, cauliflower, cucumbers, carrots, beetroots, potatoes, onions and leeks , lettuce, endives, chard, cilantro, parsley, apples, pears, sea-buckthorn, amongst others. 

LavkaLavka’s chefs will entertain the island’s visitors with vegetarian dishes.
On the menu: zucchini ribbons with spicy butter cream, beetroot caviar, cream of cauliflower soup, pita with seasonal vegetables and turkey, boiled potatoes, fried in olive oil, carrot cake, sea-buckthorn juice and roasted pumpkin seeds. 

12:00 - 18:00 The closing ceremony of the season of the Society of Urban Gardeners "OGO!"
Throughout the day LavkaLavka will help members of 'OGO' to collect the last of thier harvest in New Holland’s kitchen garden, they will issue certificates, hand out T-shirts and offer farmers’ snacks.
