One of the leading orchestras and jazz bands in Russia’s new wave, 1/2 Orchestra will take to the Island’s stage on July 22. An instrumental ensemble like no other, 1/2 Orchestra offers an electrified spin on the traditional brass band sound, all the while maintaining an irresistible groove that samples liberally from drum-n-base, techno and hip-hop rhythms. The concert on New Holland promises the most fruitful of electronic experimentations, all in the service of a truly unique sound. While purportedly only “half” an orchestra, this group has already five studio albums to its credit, as well as multiple tours.
