For over a decade, guitarist Alexey Stankov has headed up the group Swing Couture, who play in the hot club style, a French take on American pre-war jazz. Last year, Alexey put together an eponymous quartet to record some of his own compositions. La Pompe, released right at the end of 2018, contains 10 tracks recreating the sound of the prohibition-era US — energetic swing, passionate tango, romantic paso doble and playful boogie-woogie. This is how the soundtrack to Woody Allen’s film Sweet and Lowdown could have sounded. The concert will feature tracks from the album along with a selection of new material.
