Vyacheslav Gayvoronsky is a composer and virtuoso trumpeter. His work embodies a range of musical styles from Indian raga to bebop, with improvisation and elements of free jazz at its heart. Gayvoronsky is the driving force behind the creation of the “theatre of musical improvisation” in St Petersburg, which takes as its foundation harmony between three fundamental principles: movement, speech and music.  His work includes the Shagal cycle of plays, 24 preludes and fugues, and the symphonic compositions Zakat Evropy (Sunset of Europe) and Stepnoy Volk (The Steppe Wolf). Gayvoronsky also writes music for film, radio and the theatre, and has been awarded numerous international titles, diplomas and prizes.
