Kymatic Ensemble in the Bottle House courtyard

A collective of young intellectuals and academic improvisational musicians using baroque and contemporary concert instruments along with Eastern folk instruments, along with electronic sound equipment, to perform a Japanese programme. The programme will include fragments from Mamoru Fujieda’s magnum opus Patterns of Plants, Somei Satoh’s contemporary classic Shu, commissioned by the Bang on a Can ensemble, and Ryoanji, one of John Cage’s central dzen pieces, inspired by contemplation of Kyoto’s rock garden.
