Music at New Year's Market 2019

21, 22, 26 декабря, 3, 8 января

A special music programme with St. Petersburg and Moscow brass collectives has been prepared for the New Year's Bazaar. On 21 December, Mosbras and Alexey Chizhik will perform in the Bottle House courtyard, on 22 December and 8 January there will be a performance by ZeBrass Band, 26 December and 3 January by Olympic Brass

Admission is free. 


Alexey Chizhik

St. Petersburg vibraphonist, composer and arranger, known for his performances both in the Philharmonic and on the street — when it’s warm outside he can often be seen performing in the Summer Garden. Alexey Chizhik composes jazz interpretations of classical music and is the only vibraphonist in Russia who has mastered the technique of playing with five sticks.

21 December. Performances: 3 pm – 3:20 pm, 3:40 pm – 4 pm.


Mosbras

This Moscow group consisting of 10 musicians who founded the Festival of Walking Orchestras and combine classical jazz, Latino, disco, techno, drum and bass and jungle in their performances.

21 December. Performances: 4 pm – 4:15 pm, 4:45 pm – 5 pm, 5:30 pm – 5:45 pm, 6:15 pm – 6:30 p , 7 pm – 7:15 pm, 7:45 pm – 8 pm.


ZeBrass

The musicians recreate the authentic style of the brass bands of the beginning of the last century but the repertoire of the band is not limited to Dixieland and Art Deco jazz — their playlist also contains modern pop and rock hits. In the band’s original arrangements these compositions acquire the unique sound of brass bands of New Orleans.

Olympic Brass

One of the oldest brass ensembles in St. Petersburg unites the musicians of classical and jazz schools. The basis of the group's repertoire is formed by  compositions from domestic and foreign cinema. Classical music, jazz, Latino tunes and bossa nova, Balkan songs, klezmer and funk.
