Philip Jeck Live at Bottle House Stage

20:00–22:00

September 5, 8 PM

All places are booked

A concert by Philip Jeck, a British post-minimalist who has worked extensively with Gavin Bryars, and for many years has combined acoustic and electronic music in his own virtuoso style. His performances, which involve a vast quantity of wires, old turntables, mixers and any amount of exquisite antique gear, conjure up entire landscapes of vinyl heaven, filled with unique sounds, harmonies and imagery.

Philip Jeck began his career as a musician and composer at the height of the 1980s, when he was already a specialist in visual art. Besides Gavin Bryars, he has worked with Steve Lacy, David Sylvian, Bernhard Lang, Jah Wobble and many others. His awards include the Ars Electronica festival prize, the Time Out prize for Best Performance, and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation prize for Best Composer. As an artist he has staged exhibitions at the Hamburger Bahnhof museum in Berlin, the Hayward Gallery in London, the Karlshruhe Centre for Art and Media Technology, and at the Shanghai and Liverpool biennales.

Philip Jeck is performing in Russia by invitation from the V-A-C Foundation and Synthposium
