Solo performance by Alexandr Filippenko "Our Fathers' Laughter"

Good news for theatre amateurs: on August 1, Russian actor Aleksandr Filippenko will perform a one man show, Our Fathers’ Laughter, on the stage of New Holland!

The show will feature Soviet satirical texts from the notebooks of S. Dovlatov’s Leningrad period, his novel Representation from the book Zone, satires by M. Koltsov, and fables by N. Erdman.

All authors have written about time and about themselves, and all of them had to face the danger of censorship: M. Koltsov was shot, Erdman was arrested and sent into exile, S.Dovlatov remained unpublished and had to emigrate. But at the same time, these authors wrote humorous novels and stories.
