Open tournament of Japanese chess Shogi

On July 31 from 18:00 to 22:00 we organize the first New Holland tournament of Japanese Chess: Shogi!

Shogi or the generals’ chess is a Japanese two-player strategy board game in the same family as Western Chess. The main difference between Western chess and Shogi resides in Shogi’s drop rule; it was the first chess variant wherein captured pieces could be returned to the board to be used as one's own. This leads to a permanent complication, since the number of possible moves is continually "reset".

The best players from Saint-Petersburg and Russia are expected to come to the tournament: Viktor Zapary, Maxim Zakharenkov, Danil Kulin and others.

Everyone is welcome!

The game’s rules can be found on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shogi), you can learn how to play on Wednedays at 19:00 in New Holland’s lecture hall. You can also play online on the website: 81dojo.com

The tournament is organized in conjunction with shogi.ru and shogiplayers.ru
