Giuseppe Licari

Giuseppe Licari is an Italian artist based in Rotterdam. His practice consists mainly of social-based work, and installations, interacting with a given locality, its art and social spaces. For New Holland, Licari will transform the roof of the pop-up gallery into an independent space with its own identity and history. A Secret Garden will occupy the gallery roof, inaccessible for any visitor. The garden’s presence, establishes a dialogue with the gallery space and what it contains so to create a tension between the accessible and the closed, what can be experienced and what remains inaccessible to our life and experience. This secret and mysterious space reconnects with the history of New Holland and reminds us its past history, isolated from the people and thus in the very heart of the city.
