The Longest Table charity project launch

The Longest Table charity project launch

On 6 July 2019 the first event of the Longest Table charity project will take place on New Holland Island.

The Longest Table is an event which aims to bring like-minded people together around one table, be they residents, partners or guests of the New Holland: cultural urbanization project, to give their help and support to a selected charity. Our partner for this year is the Butterfly Children fund, an organisation which provides comprehensive support to children with the rare genetic condition epidermolysis bullosa (EB). Butterfly Children provides medical, practical, informational, psychological and legal assistance, along with specialist training for Russian doctors in some of Europe’s best clinics and medical centres, as well as publishing medical papers and working actively with pharmaceutical companies to analyse and select medicines and treatments for EB sufferers. The fund’s medical team, which includes some of Russia’s leading EB specialists, runs training seminars for regional doctors and gives talks at dermatological conferences. Butterfly Children also provides medicine and all other necessary support to children suffering from EB who are given up for adoption, and works to find adoptive parents for them.

A 100-metre long table will be set on New Holland Island’s main avenue, where all the guests of the event can gather and enjoy the catering provided by the island’s resident cafés. Among the invited guests are the restaurant group Duo.Band, who will prepare Grilled new cabbage with yoghurt sauce, while the Cococo restaurant’s head chef Igor Grishechkin will serve up two desserts – his signature Cococorn and Panna cotta with curds, berries, blackberry marshmallow and beetroot balsamic.

As part of the event, the fund’s patrons will be appearing on the main stage: Ksenia Rappoport, Danila Kozlovsky and Alexander Tsypkin will read their favourite children’s stories. The whole park will be transformed into an “urban dacha” where visitors can play street-games, listen to music, watch films (including movies from the Beat Film Festival programme), paint a fence just like Tom Sawyer, and above all help those who need it most. All proceeds from the day will go towards Butterfly Children fund.

Entry price: Adults – 500 roubles, Concessions – 250 roubles, children aged 13 years or younger – free of charge. Tickets will go on sale on the day of the event.
