Stage

Stage

The Stage is the tallest of the park's temporary structures. Its design was based it on the park amphitheater at the Sestroretsk Sanatorium, which was destroyed during World War II. Like the other park pavilions, the Stage is lined with larch wood that has been treated using the special Japanese technique of shou sugi ban. This process involves charring timber, before coating it with oil and then tinting it with the desired color. This gives the impression of naturally weathered material, as if the wooden boards had spent several years on the sandy shores of the Gulf of Finland before being incorporated into the facade. As in previous years, the New Holland stage hosts musical performances by bands and orchestras, theater productions, performances, and summer movies on the big screen.
