Every year, in September, Saint Petersburg turns into the capital of baroque music, all hail to the organizer of Earlymusic festival. This year, for the 19th time in its history, Earlymusic opening ceremony will take place on New Holland Island.
Earlymusic 2016 is dedicated to the 280th anniversary of Russian opera and its founder, composer Francesco Araja. A 2 hour concert will consist of arias and fragments of various Araja’s operas as well as music by his nearest associates and poems from XVIII century.
