Indie darlings Glintshake will take to the main stage at New Holland to launch their first Russian-language album, whose title remains a secret.In its latest and irrevocably Russian-speaking incarnation, GS (as the band has been called) attempts to return indie pop music to its acuteness, freedom and self-irony. To accomplish this, the group is trying to develop in non-linear ways, using the rhythms of Russian language, putting their unique stamp on their approach to melody, text, composition, and visual elements to build up their own system of coordinates, drawing from academic music, the Russian avant-garde, the Soviet New Wave and jazz. The group’s songs, live performances and accompanying visuals make up a hymn to the freedom, spontaneity and absurdity of life in Russia, while also offering a portal to pure abstraction, where familiar images are deconstructed and turned inside out.
