During her talk Maria Lisogorskaya, one of the founding members of Assemble studio, will present a showcase of several projects done by the collective since 2010 and discuss the ideas behind them, in particular how they correlate with the main trends around creative industries. The first architecture practice to be nominated to prestigious Turner prize award, Assemble has always undertaken diverse projects — from social spaces to sites of contemporary production, and Maria will focus on four of the extensive portfolio of the studio: Sugarhouse Studios, Yardhouse, Blackhorse Workshop and Granby Workshop. Based on these project we will see how architectural bureau can work across multiple sectors: not only architecture, but also design and art.
The lecture is a part of the series “Theories and practices of cultural leadership” organised by Garage Museum of Contemporary Art together with the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy in Moscow.
Maria Lisogorskaya is one of the founding members of Assemble, which she formed in 2010 with their award winning first project The Cineroleum. She has delivered scheme which address the scales of events, objects, buildings and neighbourhoods. She has taught a masters architecture studio at Central Saint Martins in London, as well being a visiting professor at the Vienna Technical University. She is on the governing board of Blackhorse Workshop; and is currently working on developing spaces for work and education in the UK and abroad.
