An exhibition Digital Twins by Maxim Zhestkov has opened today in the Zifergauz digital art gallery located on the third floor of House 12. Art is created in real time by a neural network that interacts with the viewer. Dozens of sensors continuously scan the surrounding space, capturing the walk and even gestures of visitors and creating a digital avatar of a person. With a wave of your hand, you can run colorful waves along the walls of the gallery or launch a whirlwind of digital cubes.

The exhibition is accompanied by three installations from the permanent exhibition by artist Sasha Frolova. An art object Kaleidoscope imitates the illuminated fountains of Peterhof and responds to steps. As a result, 37 buds of mirrors appear under the feet of the guests, changing colours in real time. Another installation called The Dome unfolds above the head of the visitors. It’s a virtual imitation of St. Petersburg sky with a rapid change of weather. An art object Eye consists of 323 mirror faces, where images from the surrounding digital art are refracted. The accompanying music is also written using a neural network. The soundtrack can be listened to on Yandex.Music, Apple Music, VKontakte and Spotify.

The exhibition is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free, registration online is required. The number of seats is limited. Please keep your distance, wear a mask, and stay home if you have any symptoms of an illness.

Maxim Zhestkov is a Russian media artist, his works include collaborations with Google, Samsung, BMW and other technology companies. He is the only media artist who presented his art projects at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum twice. Maxim created the Digital Twins art project in 2021 together with Gazprom Neft.
